GPE’s ability to achieve results stems from learning from monitoring and evaluating data and information as well as from locking together sector coordination, government-led sector dialogue and providing financial and technical support.

The Global Partnership strives to ensure that all partners understand and play their part in the achievement of the common goals outlined in the GPE Strategy 2020, using monitoring, evaluation and a focus on results, not only to inform its work but also as a driver for improved performance.

For GPE, data and information have multiple functions including providing information on whether the work is on track, learning in terms of what works in international educational development including the usefulness of its tools, and, finally, understanding its impact. This page serves a portal to GPE data and information to underpin these functions and to inform all stakeholders on our shared achievements.

GPE Results Framework

GPE's monitoring and evaluation strategy is based on the results framework, which in turn is driven by its theory of change. While the theory of change explains the logical chain through which GPE intends to achieve the ultimate impact – improved and equitable learning for all – the results framework defines expected results and indicators related to each of these results. This means that it will be possible to monitor whether the Partnership is achieving the goals and objectives outlined in the GPE Strategy 2020.

With 37 key indicators, the results framework helps GPE monitor and report progress across partner countries on such aspects as:

  • Improved learning outcomes
  • Stronger school readiness at age 5
  • More children completing primary and lower secondary education - especially those in fragile and conflict settings, or marginalized, for example, by gender
  • More children enrolled in pre-primary education
  • Increased domestic financing for education
  • Increased donor commitment to financing education
  • Improved allocation of trained teachers
  • Improved educational planning.

To ensure transparency and encourage a wider understanding of the effectiveness of GPE's partnership model, all results are reported in an annual Results Report.
