Picture of the week
My name is Sousdey Yann and I am from Cambodia. I am really glad to join the “Reading Changed My Life” contest. This photo shows a boy in Sim Reap, a province in Cambodia. He was at the Angkor Wat Temple, a famous temple in Cambodia, and one of the seven wonders of the world. Like in most major temples in Cambodia, children often hang around to sell souvenirs to tourists. A boy reading in one corner, who seemed to be minding his own business, caught my interest and I walked towards him. I approached him and asked: “What are you reading?” “A book about temples, my brother,” he replied. “For school?”I asked. “No, for tourists. I want to become a tour guide, which brings a lot of money. Selling souvenirs doesn’t bring a lot of profit” he answered. “It’s great, brother, that you like reading because reading can change your life. You will reach your future dream. You can read a book anywhere and anytime. The more you read the more you will know.”
