The college welcomes about 500 students who learn to become primary school teachers over a 2-year period. It is free on the condition that students keep good grades. Otherwise they must pay tuition. 

Teacher effectiveness is a key priority of the Ugandan government, which has allocated more than 33 million of the $100 million GPE grant to improving head teacher management skills, early reading teaching and  inspections.
