This week Alice Albright accompanied Maker Mwangu Famba, Minister of Education, to Gemena (Equateur), to inaugurate the newly built Kanzi Primary School as part of a US$100 million program by the Global Partnership for Education. The program aims to strengthen the DRC's education system for 2013-2016 by increasing access to school for children in Kasai Occidental and Equateur, two of the most disadvantaged provinces of the country. The grant also finances the distribution of approximately 20 million textbooks throughout the country.
